Huawei Canada – Legal Counsel (Permanent, Immediate)

Huawei Canada is looking for an experienced Legal Counsel to join the Quality & Operation Department. The role involves providing efficient legal support across a range of business areas and ensuring compliance with Canadian law.

The Quality & Operation Department supports procurement, finance, IT services and more. The team focuses on solving complex problems under tight deadlines while delivering world‑class service.

• Provide knowledgeable legal support to the business.
• Draft, review and negotiate contracts, including procurement agreements, leases, research and development agreements, and services agreements.
• Advise internal business teams on legal matters such as employment, privacy and data protection, corporate governance, compliance, risk management, and more.
• Support litigation, settlement and dispute resolution efforts.
• Communicate with headquarters in China and localize HQ’s legal requirements in Canada.
• Track legislative developments and maintain resources of external counsels.
• Provide legal advice on all other matters as they arise.

• Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) from a recognized university.
• Member of the Ontario bar in good standing.
• Minimum of 7+ years of experience in a law firm or in‑house legal department, specializing in employment law, general corporate and commercial law.
• Strong negotiation, drafting and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage a demanding workload.
• Business‑minded with sound and practical business judgement.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
