We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior or Intermediate Commercial Underwriter to join our dynamic Underwriting department. In this role, you will evaluate and assess the risks of commercial insurance applications, ensuring our clients are provided with fair and accurate coverage options. You will play a crucial role in balancing risk assessment with client satisfaction, contributing to the success of our underwriting team. You will be required to perform a full range of policy underwriting functions/decisions related to (but not limited to) Commercial Property, Liability and Commercial Auto Insurance, such as Broker/Producer/Company Carrier Underwriter liaison.

• Review and evaluate new and renewal applications to ensure all documentation is complete, accurate, and maintained in compliance with company practices and regulatory requirements
• Responsible for the administration of marketing policies according to market appetite
• RIBO License preferred
• Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in commercial underwriting that includes strong knowledge of all types of commercial insurance
• Strong analysis skills required with attention to detail for documentation to ensure quality of underwriting
• Communicate with brokers and teammates and company representatives with professional courtesy, and in a manner that is consistent with our service-oriented approach
• Provide underwriting advice and answer inquiries from brokers and other company personnel
• Negotiate terms and conditions of coverage to meet client needs
• Maintain positive relationships with brokers and market underwriters; answer underwriting questions; provide guidance on what is acceptable risk
• Service-oriented written and verbal communication skills
• Able to work independently & in a team setting and reporting to senior underwriter
• Work well within tight deadlines
• Team oriented, building strong working relationships and a positive work environment
• Create and follow up on outstanding abeyances
• Other duties as assigned
• Power Broker experience required along with computer skills including Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point
• Clear criminal record must be provided

Pay: CA $45,000.00 - CA $65,000.00 per year

Experience:

High School Diploma/ with some college or Insurance Industry education
