About the team:

The Distributed Data Storage and Management Lab leads research in distributed data systems, aiming to develop next-generation cloud serverless products that encompass core infrastructure and databases. This lab addresses various data challenges, including cloud-native disaggregated databases, pay-by-query user models, and optimizing low-level data transfers via RDMA. Teams within this lab create advanced cloud serverless data infrastructure and implement cutting-edge networking technologies for Huawei's global AI infrastructure.

About the job:

• Lead innovation in large-scale distributed data systems and AI + big data technologies to enhance the company's core products and drive commercial success through concept, architecture, and technical innovation.

• Drive technological breakthroughs in distributed data systems by integrating ideas from academia, industry, and open-source communities; plan technology directions, architecture designs, and key innovations.

• Implement critical technologies supporting flagship products across various domains and explore new business opportunities and monetization models.

• Develop the ecosystem around distributed data systems by defining strategies and execution plans to build industry influence.

The base salary for this position ranges from $190,000 to $350,000 depending on education, experience, and expertise.

About the ideal candidate:

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science or related fields such as Mathematics or Computer Engineering.

• 8+ years of experience in related fields such as Distributed Systems.

• Strong skills in system architecture and technological innovation, with a deep understanding of industry advancements in distributed data systems.

• Proven success in projects and expertise in related domains, with leadership capability in complex initiatives.

• Familiarity with current trends, challenges, and applications in distributed data systems and AI data infrastructure.

• Excellent strategic thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate technologies into competitive solutions.
