Reporting directly to the Executive Director and above, this position is essential to our day-to-day business administration and operations and is responsible for leading and developing a high performing team that aims to deliver results and achieve key objectives.
The HR Manager will play a critical role in supporting our store operations. This position requires frequent travel between store locations and active participation in store‑level work (i.e., performing non‑HR tasks such as helping on the floor, preparing drinks, or supporting team members during busy shifts). The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a fast‑paced, customer‑facing environment and demonstrate a strong commitment to frontline engagement.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- This position requires travel. Perform work in store is a must.
- Oversee all HR initiatives, systems, and tactics across the organization.
- Maintain management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending HR policies and procedures aligned with company’s overall business strategy.
- Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation, and preservation of human capital.
- Serve as the point of contact for employment relations and communicate with senior management.
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and training of store‑level team members.
- Monitor and improve employee performance, morale, and retention.
- Conduct investigations, manage employee relations issues, and ensure compliance with company policies and employment laws.
- Maintain accurate employee records and documentation.
- Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable HR federal and state requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records; dealing with grievances, violations and invoking disciplinary action when required.
- Anticipate and resolve litigation risks.
- Support and enforce company culture, standards, and operational policies.
- Participate in‑store operations to gain hands‑on insight and foster team relationships.
- BSc/BA in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or relevant field; MSc/MA in Human Resources is an asset
- 2+ years of HR leadership experience, preferably in the food & beverage or retail sector.
- Strong understanding of the recruitment and selection, compensation and benefits, training and performance evaluation, health and safety, labour relations, and other HR functions
- Excellent knowledge of employment legislation and regulations
- Thorough knowledge of human resource management principles and best practices
- Knowledgeable in business strategies with a strong focus on human capital
- Competency in building and effectively managing interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company
- Knowledge of data analysis and reporting
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Willingness to travel extensively (valid driver’s license required).
- Ability and willingness to perform in‑store tasks as needed (this is not a remote or office‑only HR role).
- CHRP/CHRL certification is an asset
