Job Description Summary
Entry-level role for I&C Systems Design Engineer responsible for design and analysis of I&C systems for nuclear power plant applications1) design specifications;
2) development, test, and qualification plans, and
3) field deployment of rod control and rod control blocking systems and other controls systems and applications.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics from an accredited university or college
- Minimum 9 months of experience (including internship experience) in industrial Instrumentation and control such as nuclear, power, process, marine, oil & gas, military, aerospace, medical, or pharmaceutical
- Minimum 1 years of experience (including internship and academic experience) with application, requisition, or field engineering in a combination of mid-tier programmable logic controllers (PLC) or top-tier DCS used in complex, instrumentation, data acquisition, control, monitoring, or automation
Essential Responsibilities
- I&C System design and development from conceptual through preliminary and detailed design, fabrication, assembly, production test, validation test as well as site installation, start-up test, and commissioning
- Perform design and related technical scope from Conceptual, Preliminary, and Detailed Design including successful completion of nuclear regulatory design certification or plant licensing as well as procurement packages and hand-off to suppliers for implementation all applicable system, and component requirements; interfaces, function, performance, design assurance process, qualification, standards, regulatory guidance, certification or licensing commitments, technical contract, human factors, safety hazards, reliability, cyber security, etc.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to define and achieve functional, performance, reliability, availability, and maintainability (RAM) targets and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA)
- Collaborate with system supplier implementation teams to develop, perform, and review unit, module, system, and integration test plans, procedures, and reports including factory acceptance test, site acceptance test, construction, pre-operational, and start-up tests
Eligibility Requirements:
- Work Office in Markham ON, CA is required.
- This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.

Qualifications:
- Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or Technology, Mechatronics, or equivalent 4-year technical degree
- Experience in nuclear analog and digital instrumentation, control, and monitoring with detailed knowledge in safety-related systems, hardware, software, theory of operation, equipment environmental, seismic qualification (EQ) testing and field services or plant start-ups
- Experience in DCS, or PLC application, deployment and support engineering of complex, high reliability, signal acquisition, data processing, inter-networking, separation, safety hazards, reliability, simulation, and cyber security requirements.
- Experience using industry standards
- Clear thinker, detail oriented, insightful, quantitative, results oriented – Able to learn quickly and make reasoned, sound, and timely decisions
- Effective communication, cross-discipline and functional facilitation, and influencing skills, both verbal and written with focus on requirements, design basis document and technical presentation preparation and delivery
- Inclusive team player able to work successfully in matrix environment – Executing multiple assignments and priorities
- Self-starter with positive energy, bias for action, and proven track record of delivering on commitments and goals in a fast-paced environment
