. This position is based in Mississauga, Toronto, Markham or Whitby. You will work on a wide variety of geotechnical engineering projects, including planning and overseeing in-situ testing field investigations, preparation of proposals and scope changes, design and technical report preparation, field work management of small and large projects, and mentoring of junior staff.
- Data Collection and Analysis:
Carry out engineering analysis, design and reporting with oversight from a senior geotechnical engineer. - Geoscientific Studies and Interpretations:
Manage, coordinate and conduct geotechnical investigations across transportation, tunnels, civil municipal, commercial and residential development, resource industries, utilities, and building structures. - Engineering Solutions Design:
Evaluate and apply engineering techniques, procedures and criteria to assist in geoengineering design, data analysis of geotechnical investigations, construction engineering and project management. - Data Management:
Support data management systems and provide guidance to others. - Technical Developments:
Oversee field investigations, site inspections and preparation of reports. - Personal Capability Building:
Participate in assessment and development planning, training and coaching; pursue external professional accreditation where relevant; stay current with technology, regulation and industry best practices. - Coordination:
Manage field works and subcontractors. - Research:
Conduct research activities to support the team or role requirements. - Project Management:
Assist in proposals, work plans, cost estimates, project coordination, management and execution. - Client & Customer Management (External):
Support senior colleagues in managing client relationships using relevant systems.
- University degree in Geotechnical, Civil Engineering or Geological Engineering; a Masters degree in engineering is preferred.
- Registered with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) as a Professional Engineer.
- General
Experience:
Minimum 5 to 10 years in geotechnical engineering. - Experience with Detailed Design, Design Build and Owner's Engineer Technical Advisor roles is an asset.
- Strong report writing and verbal communication skills in English.
- A reliable vehicle and valid driver's license.
- Knowledge of software such as gINT, Geo Studio (Slope/W, etc.), SETTLE3D, LPILE, CADD, Micro Station, and MS Office.
