Responsibilities:
Act as project manager, structural lead and designer for engineering assignments
Responsible for Transportation Structural inspection assignments and be Supervising Engineer on biennial (OSIM) inspection assignments.Lead and conduct the inspection of existing bridges, culverts, and other transportation structures in accordance with the Ontario Structure Inspection Manual (OSIM), Ontario Health and Safety Act (OHSA), and other applicable standards.Available to work flexible hours, days, nights, and weekends. Staff will be required to be away from home for periods of time.Complete daily Health and Safety documentation.Provide recommendations and costing on bridge, culvert and retaining walls, required maintenance, repair and rehabilitation.Project Manager for Inspection assignmentsInput data captured in the field into a database onsite.Provide direction to project team members and support staff through verbal and written instructions.Attend and participate in team progress meetings.Technically review inspection reportsConduct regular reviews of transportation structure inspection projects to ensure budget, schedule, risk, and cost to complete estimates are appropriate.Prepare and review technical reports, summary reports and proposals.Work within assigned projects and schedulesQualifications:
BASc or
B.Eng. In civil/structural engineering with strong interest and experience in Bridge Engineering – Biennial Inspections
P. Eng. status and 10+ years leading Biennial inspection assignments.RAQS eligible within Bridge Engineering for Biennial Inspections and Wood Bridge Inspections.Attended the MTO 2021 Inspectors workshop.Experience in the role of supervising Engineer on OSIM inspection assignmentsExperience in fatigue inspectionsExperience in proposal and report writing.Experience in Asset ManagementSuccessful experience of analyzing, evaluating, rehabilitating and designing bridges and culvertsInterest in working both in the office and the field environment.Experience in project managementAbility to perform outdoor physical duties while doing bridge inspection work.Valid Ontario Driver’s licenseStrong computer skills, including experience with bridge inspection and asset management software.Excellent written and verbal communicationStrong interpersonal, communication and presentation skillsAble to work in a team environment and excel in bridge…
