Job Overview
The Foreperson is required to oversee new Civil infrastructure builds and rebuilds on existing hydro infrastructure. The Foreperson works to ensure customers will receive the right delivery of products and services in agreed upon time frames with the utmost consideration for safety. The Foreperson will over see civil crews and/or civil sub-contractors. The Foreperson is responsible for mentoring apprentices and ensuring a safe working environment for all work they have been assigned either in the field at customer sites or on K-Line premises.
Responsibilities:- Oversee the day-to-day activities of the crew ensuring safety is a top priority.
- Help build and maintain relationships for current and new customers.
- Read and interpret blueprints or process specifications and keep abreast on job/project targets and specifications.
- Respond to unscheduled Storm restoration to assist Line crews in hydro restoration
- Perform technical inspections on civil and/or civil sub-contractor and maintain assigned equipment in safe and operable conditions.
- Prepare and submit required documentation and ensure compliance to corporate safety, quality and operational processes, standard operating practices, and targets.
- Provide high quality leadership to all subordinates.
- Stakeholder communication including formal reporting on progress and the attainment of milestones on specific jobs and projects.
- Minimum seven (7) years’ experience in Hydro Civil work
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience supervising Civil work
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required
- Completion of post-secondary education is an asset
- Demonstrated ability to lead and effectively work with team and mentor subordinates
- Strong communication, problem-solving and customer service skills
- Ability to interpret drawings, develop/interpret work, and plan projects for self and others
- Sound knowledge of approved safe work methods, materials and tools used in Civil work
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Valid DZ or AZ license is an asset
