Overview
Lead our operations team who oversee each dog's journey from intake to rehome. Support volunteers and help spaniels - this role is perfect for someone who loves dogs, teamwork, and making a real impact.
What difference will you make?As part of our board, you’ll help shape the strategic direction of Spaniel Rescue Foundation and ensure our operations remain compassionate, effective, and sustainable. This is a vital role - your leadership will directly impact the lives of spaniels in need and the families who care for them.
By supporting volunteers, refining systems, and guiding our rescue pathway, you’ll help strengthen our foundation and ensure we can continue offering hope to spaniels across the UK.
What are we looking for?We’re looking for someone with a strategic mindset and a collaborative approach, who enjoys working with people, improving systems, and making a meaningful impact. You don’t need prior experience in dog rescue - we’ll support the right candidate to learn what’s needed.
Key Skills And Experience- Experience in operational leadership or service delivery
- Confidence in reviewing and refining processes to improve effectiveness
- Strong communication and people skills, especially when supporting volunteers
- A good understanding of governance and the role of a trustee
- Ability to think strategically and contribute to long-term planning
- A calm, compassionate approach to problem-solving and decision-making
We welcome applications from people with the right transferable skills. Experience in charities, public services, or community organisations is a bonus, but not essential. Most of all, we’re looking for someone who shares our values and wants to help spaniels, and the people who love them.
What will you be doing?Spaniel Rescue Foundation is growing and with that growth comes the need for strong, compassionate leadership to guide our operational work. As we take in more dogs and support more owners, our board is focused on strengthening processes, empowering volunteers, and ensuring every spaniel’s journey from intake to rehome is handled with care and consistency.
You don’t need prior experience in rescue (although it would be useful!). What matters most is your ability to think strategically, support others, and help shape effective systems. We’ll guide and support the right candidate every step of the way.
We’re looking for a trustee to lead on operations someone with a strategic mindset, a collaborative personality, and a commitment to dog welfare. You’ll help shape how we assess, foster, and rehome dogs, and support the volunteers who make it all happen. From refining policies to supporting the team, your input will help us deliver excellence at every stage.
This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, improving systems, and making a tangible difference. You’ll work closely with fellow trustees and our volunteer teams to ensure our rescue pathway is effective and aligned with our mission.
Responsibilities- Overseeing the full rescue pathway - from relinquishment to rehoming
- Supporting and coordinating volunteers across operational roles
- Reviewing and refining processes and policies
- Helping shape the charity’s strategic direction as part of the board
