Position Overview
Join a growing mechanical steel tubing manufacturer serving automotive and industrial customers. This role is the primary Quality lead at one plant (15 salaried | 52 hourly) and serves as the key point of contact for daily quality operations.
The Quality Engineer II acts as a group leader for Quality Support, balancing:
- 40% Production Floor – Investigations, non-conformance, hands‑on problem solving
- 60% Systems & Documentation – Audits, compliance, corrective actions, reporting
You’ll ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 while leading internal audits, quality initiatives, and customer issue resolution.
Key Responsibilities- Lead internal quality system & process audits (ISO 9001 / IATF 16949)
- Oversee corrective action system (root cause, validation, audit)
- Maintain document control & Business Management Plan compliance
- Investigate non-conforming product & lead containment actions
- Prepare KPI & Balanced Scorecard reports
- Lead FMEA, Control Plans & Process Flow Diagrams
- Ensure compliance with automotive standards (PPAP, customer‑specific requirements)
- Support customer visits & quality concerns
- Strong knowledge of AIAG MSA (measuring device control & calibration)
- Experience maintaining compliance with ISO 9001 & IATF 16949
- Automotive manufacturing quality background
- Hands‑on use of calipers, micrometers, snap gauges, tape measures
- Familiarity with metrology lab activities
- Experience with corrective actions & non‑conformance investigations
- High School Diploma or GED required
- ISO/TS 16949 Auditor Certification preferred
Prior lab experience a plus
