The primary responsibilities of the Senior Boiler/Chiller Specialist are:
Perform/supervise installation, maintenance, and repair of boiler and chiller systems and other HVAC equipment as required;
Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal system performance;
Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with boiler and chiller systems, identifying and implementing effective solutions;
Perform repairs and replacements of components as needed, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards;
Maintain accurate records of work performed, including maintenance schedules, service reports, and parts inventory;
Collaborate/train with other team members to coordinate and prioritize service requests; and Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies to ensure a safe working environment.
- Senior boiler/chiller specialist is a highly skilled technician responsible for the advanced installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of complex chiller and boiler systems, particularly in commercial or industrial environments.
- Key responsibilities for a senior boiler and chiller specialist include diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing electromechanical systems and equipment for commercial chillers and boilers.
- This position would troubleshoot complex HVAC and emergency equipment, such as motors, fan coils, VAVs, heat exchangers, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, and pumps, and service various types of chillers.
- The role often involves providing technical guidance and collaboration with other technicians and could involve installing, testing and commissioning new equipment.
- This role often involves a high level of expertise in HVAC systems, refrigeration, and related mechanical and electrical components, including controls and safety system.
- Other duties may include performing safety inspections of relevant equipment, monitoring and maintaining water chemistry for boilers, and completing preventative and corrective maintenance tasks with detailed documentation in a CMMS.
- Adhering to code requirements and safety regulations, including OSHA standards, is essential. Specialists may also participate in emergency on-call rotations, stay updated on industry trends, and develop client relationships.

Education- High School Diploma or GED
- Required Certifications & Qualification
- EPA Section 608 Universal Certification (mandatory for refrigerant handling)
- Boiler Operator Permit or Inspector License (as required by Indiana DHS)
- Three or more (3+) years of experience in HVAC-R or boiler/chiller maintenance
- Strong knowledge of boiler and chiller systems, including installations, maintenance, and repair. Experience in service work
- Familiarity with NBIC standards and local building codes
- Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals
- Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
- Preferred Skills
- Experience with Trane, Carrier, York, or similar systems
- Knowledge of energy-efficient upgrades and controls
- NATE Certification or manufacturer-specific training
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
