As a Senior Field Deployment Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting the deployment and training of the VA's EHR project, working closely with a team of onsite technicians to ensure seamless equipment setup and configuration. Your technical expertise and customer service skills will be essential in delivering a high-quality experience for end-users.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information System, Information Technology, or Equivalent

Clearance: VA Public Trust clearance is required prior to starting.

Onsite Requirements
  • Daytime hours with potential for evening hours and weekend hours
  • Frequent travel to other sites outside of the metropolitan area throughout the week
  • Ability to traverse around the site campus transporting equipment to various office buildings
  • Frequent stooping, crouching, and reaching to setup/remove computers/pull cords under desks and in server closets
Responsibilities
  • Deploy, image, and set up equipment (PCs, Laptops, Docking Stations, Monitors, Printers, Scanners, and Network Connections) at VA medical center campus and offsite training centers
  • Assist with oversight of workload and manage inventory and network connectivity at each training site
  • Ensure connectivity during all training sessions and verify each computer has the most current VA computer image
  • Configure network connectivity in the training room and install computer peripherals at each training seat
  • Manage and troubleshoot a wide variety of systems and networks, including high availability systems
Required Skills
  • 5 years’ experience in imaging, installing computer equipment and managing teams of technical staff
  • Ability to unpack/re-pack, move, and install pallets of IT equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Experience with hardware and software support, troubleshooting, system imaging, hardware break‑fix support (i.e. laptops, desktops, and printers), refresh, upgrade, and deployment projects
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Experience with conducting routine system administration tasks and logging data in system admin logs
  • Knowledge of debugging protocols and processes
Nice To Have
  • Experience with the Service Now ticketing system
  • VA Public Trust clearance
  • Experience with Microsoft windows desktop deployments
  • Experience as IT helpdesk Tier 1 or 2
