Overview
Under direction of the Site Manager the Safety Engineer plans and directs activities for the site’s EHS organization including overseeing regulatory compliance, training and implementation of DFMS safety policies, accident investigation and documentation.
Responsibilities- Representative for maintenance on the Crisis Management Team.
- Responsible for completing safety observations, layered process audits and safety improvement.
- Responsible for the delivery of safety tasks.
- Conduct site safety audits to ensure compliance.
- Conduct daily safety meetings.
- Ensure Training Matrix and Safety Talk Topic binder is always current.
- Responsible for creation and implementation of lockout tagout procedures for all facilities and production equipment. Utilizes OEM manuals, and technical expertise and experience of staff.
- Responsible for management of all high-risk activities such as confined space, hot work, etc.
- Coordination of IH sampling for DFMS as necessary.
- Provide safety training to all employees in accordance with the OSHA Standards for General Industry, OSHA Standards for Construction and NFPA Standards.
- Ensures safety related items are completed as per direction of the customer.
- Responsible for assistance in subcontractor safety requirements for both DFMS and the customer.
- Perform any task required by the customer that is reasonable and safe.
- Implement and manage our standard DFMS safety program.
- Work with teams to establish root causes of unsafe acts and conditions and create solutions.
- Direct/assist teams in writing pre-task analysis and standard work instructions.
- Responsible for assisting in new chemical approval process.
- Attend electronically DFM corporate safety meetings and participate in emerging best practices discussions and development.
- Attend site EHS customer meetings to share information.
- Participate in problem solving/continuous improvement process.
- Work with site managers, supervisors, hourly employees, and customers to ensure accuracy of reports, complete root cause analysis, and corrective actions are effective and complete.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an EHS professional, with experience in both Environmental and Safety roles, preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience at an industrial manufacturing plant or equivalent industry.
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of waste regulations.
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of the OSHA regulations.
- Computer literate with standard business software.
- Familiar with standard industrial manufacturing processes.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing an Environmental, Health and Safety compliance program in an industrial manufacturing plant.
- Able to multi-task and interact with all levels of the organization.
- Able to lead and influence team members.
