Overview
The Child Support Enforcement Division of the Illinois Attorney General’s Office is seeking an Assistant Attorney General for its Marion office to handle child support enforcement cases and other litigation in several counties in southern Illinois. A strong candidate will have a demonstrated interest in and enthusiasm for trial work, and experience handling a high volume of cases.
Responsibilities- Represent the Department of Healthcare and Family Services and the Department of Human Services in litigation, primarily focused on child support enforcement.
- Handle personal injury lien recoveries, estate liens and claims, excess assistance recoveries, administrative review actions, bankruptcy cases in federal court, and miscellaneous matters.
- Appear in court several times a week and manage a high volume of cases, including conducting formal evidentiary hearings when an agreement is not reached.
- Prepare pleadings and responses to motions, and research legal issues.
- Maintain excellent litigation and negotiation skills and foster strong working relationships with court officials, agency staff, and families seeking services.

- Willingness and ability to travel extensively to various counties in southern Illinois.
- Licensed to practice in Illinois at the time of application.
Salary: Salaries are commensurate with number of years of practice as a licensed attorney and range from $82,000 to $107,550.
