What You Will Do

Under the supervision of the Fire Protection Products Supervisor, the Restaurant Systems Assembler will assemble and test, inspect, and package small fire protection systems. Assemblies include components such as R, K, A, Electric, Solenoid Switch, and Dual Switch (examples: 101, 1.5 Gallon, 3.0 Gallon, Electric, Regulated Actuator, Dual Tank). Other products include Piranha, PMD, DAD, EAD (Explosion Proof, Solenoid, 120V, 240V), AUTOMAN II, (with SQUIB), CHECKFIRE and SCAD.

The role also covers assembling, testing, and inspecting component parts such as pipe systems (electric, dual switch, solenoid, basic, Piranha), releases, pressure and electrical switches, triple tees, pull stations, actuation devices, regulated actuators, power interrupters, valves and water valve piping (Piranha and R-102 Bracket Assemblies). Rework and retrofits are occasionally involved. The company reserves the right to rotate employees to other departments or work assignments as needed based on skill set and production needs.

How

You Will Do It

Duties

  • Following blueprints, set up and assemble component parts such as releases and switches for 101, 102, CHECKFIRE, PIRANHA, AUTOMAN, SCAD, PMD, EAD, and DAD. Measure, cut, and solder wiring. Use small hand tools, power tools, and air wrenches.
  • Assemble manually operated actuators, electrical junction boxes, and actuating devices. Use small hand and power tools.
  • Air test a variety of pneumatic receiver actuators to ensure proper functioning. Air test quick opening valve actuators on large nitrogen cylinder systems up to 200 psi.
  • Assemble and air test pressure trips to 240 psi.
  • Perform manual and electrical testing by resetting release mechanisms, attaching proper wires to terminals or electrical test units, and verifying actuation and continuity of 101, 102, and Piranha releases. Also test printed circuit boards for AUTOMAN series.
  • Inspect all parts of every assembly per blueprints and work instructions. Use tools and gauges to inspect components. Record inspections on proper logs and be prepared to demonstrate inspection processes to ISO-9000 auditors.
  • Attach releases into control boxes on the 101 AUTOMAN series. On 101-10, attach extinguisher inside the box and seal explosion-proof AUTOMAN series with cement.
  • Electrically test explosion-proof solenoid switches with test units on 12-24 VDC, 120 VAC and 240 VAC models.
  • Set up and assemble AUTOMAN and SCP (special control panel series) by attaching electrical terminal strips, mode lights, wiring harnesses, and fitting pretested PCBs into terminal strips.
  • Test AUTOMAN II with electrical panels to ensure correct response for each mode; follow written procedures step by step.
  • Use an ohm meter to adjust the power supply on AUTOMAN III to prevent overload by monitoring relay engagement and current draw.
  • Align and glue nameplate labels on units.
  • Assemble and package 101, 102, Piranha, CHECKFIRE and AUTOMAN series (including ULC and MPC units) by assembling mounting boxes per blueprints and production orders, then place into cartons with correct literature and nameplates. Record serial numbers on nameplates per UL specifications.
  • Assemble components for SCAD (self-contained actuating device) and for Triple Tee Assemblies, Pull Stations, R-102 Bracket Assemblies, and Liquid Agent Regulator Testing kits per blueprints and production orders.
  • Assemble PMD (pressure makeup device) and DAD (detection actuation device) with jigs and fixtures using springs, puncture pins, seals, O-rings and relief valves. Secure assemblies with proper sealants, torque small parts, stamp dates, and apply labels.
  • Test PMD and DAD for leaks using a hand portable spectrometer after filling with nitrogen to 1800 psi. Test for pressure make-up and puncture pin actuation by blocking off pressure and observing function.
  • Assemble warning devices with components such as bulb, gasket, and cover plate; test light bulb function.
  • Package PMD, warning devices, and DAD with spare parts.
  • Rework units returned from customers by disassembling, repairing, and reassembling, testing repaired units for proper actuation.
  • Assemble and package Piranha units using blueprints and production orders, including releases, actuators, valves and water valves.
  • Monitor supplies (shells, mounting boxes, cartons, lever brackets, etc.), track parts, and inform supervisor when…
