Position: Engineering Technician (Construction Inspection) for Marina Coast Water District

Do you have experience conducting construction field inspections? If so, the Marina Coast Water District (District) welcomes your application. Regional Government Services and its staff are conducting this recruitment on behalf of the Marina Coast Water District.

THE

POSITION

The Engineering Technician (Construction Inspection), a valued member of the Engineering Division, will support the engineering services for the District. The incumbent will provide skilled and sub‑professional office and field technical engineering work primarily inspecting Capital Improvement Program (CIP) project work and new development installations. The position performs a majority of work in the field ensuring construction projects are built to plan drawings and specifications, ensures projects meet related codes, and works with District and contracted staff to deliver excellent customer service.

Assists with preparing and reviewing engineering plans and specifications for a variety of projects, ensure compliance with standards and District requirements, reviews improvement plans, coordinates facility planning and general engineering plan amendments.

Some of the top organizational priorities of the incoming Engineering Technician (Construction Inspection) include new development projects, B pressure zone Tank 2 Project (second lowest water storage tank project), Tate Park Lift Station, and various pipeline projects.

This position may be required to work after hours and off hours depending upon the project.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL:
  • Be field focused and engage in construction and code inspections
  • Review the work of contract inspectors
  • Prepare clear and concise reports
  • Ensure plans drawings are built correctly and will identify issues
  • Assist in the office on technical work
  • Perform technical tasks in the field of engineering.
  • Interpret, apply, and explain statutes, codes, regulations, and ordinances.
  • Understand and read engineering drawings.
  • Have experience with Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
  • Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and customers.
  • Maintain the highest level of ethical behavior in all matters.
  • Work cooperatively and effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.
  • Have expert skill in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace used in current office environments.
  • Have demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with others contacted in the performance of position duties.

ABOUT THE DISTRICT Background

In 1958, a local group of dedicated citizens, known as the Marina Community Service Corporation, proposed the formation of a municipal‑owned water system with boundaries to coincide with the existing Marina Fire District, which was approximately 1,600 acres. Two years later, the Marina County Water District was formed registered voters of the then unincorporated city of Marina. In 1966, voters authorized the sale of water bonds totaling $950,000 to acquire a privately owned water company serving the area.
