Job SummaryTransportation Engineer 1 (TE1) or Transportation Engineer 2 (TE2), PN
The selected candidate will be placed in the classification in which they meet minimum qualifications.
Transportation Engineer 1 or Transportation Engineer 2 hire will complete ODOT’s Transportation Civil Engineering Program to include a 12 month training plan and a scheduled rotation through the department’s core engineering disciplines:
Planning & Engineering, Construction and Highway Maintenance.

- Work alongside ODOT professional engineers.
- Receive hands‑on transportation training and experience needed to further your career as an engineer with ODOT.

Qualifications- Transportation Engineer 1: Bachelor's degree in engineering; accepted for Basic Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (EIT exam) by Ohio Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors.
- Transportation Engineer 2: Valid certificate as Engineer‑In‑Training issued or accepted as equivalent by Ohio Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 12 months experience as Transportation Engineer 1.
- Or Bachelor's degree in engineering; valid certificate as Engineer‑In‑Training issued or accepted as equivalent by Ohio Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 2 years engineering‑related experience.
- Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated registration.

- This position is overtime eligible based on FLSA Standards.
- All bargaining unit new hires must serve a one (1) year probationary period.
- Position will be filled pursuant to the provision of the OCSEA/AFSCME Contract.
