Baldwin Paving Company, Inc. is currently seeking Tack Truck Drivers to join our team. This will be a full‑time role. This position reports to the Trucking Superintendent. Nights and/or weekends may be required in addition to regular day shifts.

SummaryResponsible for operating tack truck equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
Essential Functions- Drives tack truck to destination applying commercial driving regulations and skill in maneuvering vehicle in difficult situations.
- To be able to fully operate tack truck patching hose and spray bars on road surfaces and ensure proper application of tack.
- Inspects truck, equipment, and supplies before and after trips and submits report indicating truck condition and needs.
- Be able to load and unload tack truck at the asphalt plants.
- Must observe and practice safety standards and policies of the department.
- Safely operate the tack truck, following all traffic laws and company safety procedures.
- Be able to load and unload emulsion or tack which may be as hot as 300 degrees onto the truck efficiently and securely.
- Perform regular cleaning and upkeep of the tack truck to ensure its optimal performance.
- Constantly monitor the temperature of the material to maintain its quality.
- Collaborate with the asphalt crew to assist with additional duties when the tack truck is not in use.
- Maintain a clean driving record within the guidelines of the Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) policy.
- Demonstrate familiarity with the safe operation of construction and paving equipment.
- Willingness to work day or night shifts as required.
- Stay updated on all USDOT and FMCSA safety regulations.
- Conduct daily safety checks of fluid levels (oil, water, fuel), inspect for leaks and damage prior to operating the vehicle.
- Notify supervisor promptly if the vehicle requires repair.
- Assist with incidental work items and duties related to other crafts as needed.
- Prioritize safety first by identifying and reporting near misses and unsafe acts.
- Other duties as assigned.
A high school diploma or equivalent is desired, but not required.
Physical and Environmental Aspects- Will need to be able to climb and descend steps/stairs and use handrails to enter/exit vehicles.
- The environment can be noisy employee will be exposed to dust and fumes from cleaners, gasoline, diesel, exhaust, etc.
- Employees work outdoors, and will be exposed to the weather, including extremes in heat and cold, rain.
- Will be in a sitting position for long periods of time while driving and subject to the vibration of the equipment.
- Could bend, stoop, twist, and either stand or sit for long periods of time. Requires manual dexterity and strength in arms and feet to manipulate the equipment controls, tools, and other items used to make adjustments and/or minor maintenance.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds consistently.
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment – vest, steel‑toed boots, helmet.
- Ability to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue, and to effectively jump, sprint, or throw an object.
- Good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi‑limb coordination.
- Ability to quickly move arms and legs.
- Will require the ability to sit for an extended period of time and the eye/hand/feet ability and coordination to operate a manual transmission and clutch in both trucks and any other equipment being driven.
- Able to climb stairs/steps and to use handrails to climb and exit the equipment’s raised cab.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving and mechanical parts and equipment.
- The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
