Description:
The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team responsible for ensuring that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care.
This role involves practicing in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders.
The Clinical Nurse is expected to uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Professional Nurse Practice Act, implementing the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards.
A core responsibility is performing the Nursing Process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation of clinical care.
Critical thinking and analytical skills are essential in providing individualized patient care and coordinating care through effective partnerships.
Relationship-based, patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics is expected.
The RN Clinical Nurse partners with patients and significant others, using effective communication methods to keep them updated on goals and care plans.
The role requires managing and overseeing the care of complex and high acuity/critical pediatric patients, performing assessments, and monitoring vital signs.
Direct clinical care such as ventilator management, cardiac rhythm assessment, and titration of vasoactive and sedation drips is part of the job.
Bedside procedures such as intubation and arterial line placement may be required.
The RN Clinical Nurse will support and lead pediatric codes using the PALS algorithm and perform sterile dressing changes.
Documentation of safe, quality patient care in collaboration with the healthcare team is essential.
Participation in performance improvement initiatives and promoting a respectful, inclusive clinical environment is expected.
The RN Clinical Nurse completes ongoing professional competency assessments and serves as a preceptor or mentor for other nurses.
Promoting evidence-based practice, nursing research, and participating in data collection for clinical questions is essential.
Proactive planning for patients across the care continuum is part of this role, along with the development of protocols and procedures.
The RN Clinical Nurse must uphold all applicable policies and standards to ensure patient safety and quality care.
Other duties as assigned may be required.
