Overview
The McGee Group is seeking an Eyewear Craftsman to join our in-house eyewear manufacturing team. This role is at the heart of our production process—you will be hands-on with the assembly, finishing, and quality control of Optical Frames, Sunglasses, and Reading Glasses.
This is a role for someone who takes pride in precision, enjoys working with their hands, and cares deeply about producing beautiful, functional eyewear products. If you like seeing a product go from components to a finished piece you’re proud to put your name behind, this role is for you.
ResponsibilitiesAssembly & Finishing
- Polishing Frames using a Polishing Wheel and Specialized Paste.
- Assemble frames and components (initial assembly, cutting, adjustments, etc.)
- Print/Laser product information and logos to the product.
- Insert lenses into frames using proper tools and techniques based on frame material and design
- Edge lenses with specialized equipment
Optical Quality & Accuracy
- Inspect at each production step for defects and overall accuracy
- Ensure finished eyewear meets optical standards and design specifications
- Maintain a constant focus on quality control and identify issues before they move downstream
Detail & Quality Control
- Spot imperfections in frames, surfaces, and color consistency.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workplace.
Team & Advancement
- Cross-train in other areas of the manufacturing process
- Learn new tools, machines, and procedures as production scales
- Work collaboratively with teammates to improve processes and product quality
- Learn new techniques and acquire advanced certifications that increases factory capability.
- Optical lab, optician, or eyewear manufacturing experience
- Strong manual dexterity and comfort working with small, precision components
- Experience working in a manufacturing or workshop environment
- Familiarity with machines, power tools, and precision measuring instruments
- High attention to detail—you notice what others miss
- Ability to learn new processes and skills quickly
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift, move, and handle materials typical of a manufacturing environment
