Pereira & Associates, LLC law firm that proudly serves as appointed counsel for the Georgia Division of Family & Children Services (DFCS). We are seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join our team and support DFCS-related matters across northern Georgia counties.

About the Role

The Associate Attorney will work closely with firm leadership and Georgia DFCS representatives, providing legal services and guidance related to Georgia DFCS programs and proceedings operating under state and federal regulatory frameworks. This role involves both litigation and advisory responsibilities and offers significant professional development in public-interest law.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent DFCS in juvenile court proceedings and related matters
  • Review and analyze DFCS contracts, agreements, policies, and procedures for legal compliance
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, orders, and memoranda
  • Assist with discovery responses and coordination with the Georgia Department of Law
  • Handle Georgia Open Records Act requests and subpoena responses as needed
  • Analyze state and federal statutes, regulations, and proposed legislation affecting DFCS
  • Support Special Assistant Attorneys General in state and federal matters when required
  • Advise on complex factual and legal issues across DFCS programs
  • Assist with rule making support, policy review, and agency inquiries
  • Perform other professional legal duties consistent with DFCS representation
Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) and license to practice law in Georgia
  • Reciprocity eligibility with relevant legal experience
  • Prior experience in juvenile, administrative, or government-related practice is a plus
