Job Purpose: To guide corporate wellness program participants through education aligned with employer expectations and/or lifestyle coaching. This position requires regular onsite, face‑to‑face interaction with participants, including coaching appointments and health risk assessment consultations. Although some sessions may be conducted via video conference or telephone, this role is not fully remote and requires an ongoing on‑site presence. Sessions last up to 30 minutes, with the goal of delivering exceptional participant experience.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Consultations:
    Provide education to participants primarily onsite at the employer location. Phone or video conferencing when appropriate to review results and discuss program expectations based on employer requirements.
  • Coaching:

    Engage wellness program participants to create awareness and drive behavior change throughout ongoing coaching sessions resulting in reduced or prevented health risk factors. Deliver an exceptional experience throughout participant journey:
    • Educate:
      • Clarify with each participant their individual health risk assessment results, the value of health coaching, and the resources available specific to the participant’s health risk factors.
      • Connect program resources to the overall objectives of and incentives available through the participant’s employer‑sponsored wellness program.
      • Communicate how program resources may benefit the participant both physically and financially.
    • Enroll:
      • Obtain the proper authorizations from the participant to enroll in the health coaching program.
      • Complete enrollment process through technology platform to ensure task assignments, progress notes, and secure messaging is enabled.
    • Engage:
      • Establish a specific goal for each health risk factor identified for each participant in the health coaching program.
      • Educate on lifestyle behaviors that contribute to health risk factors.
      • Leverage education content and action plans to facilitate effective conversations and to prescribe specific takeaways between each coaching session.
    • Evolve:
      • Utilize listening and influencing skills to move the participant through the stages of behavior change.
      • Leverage Health Coaches and/or referral resources to address more complex underlying issues that may be contributing to unhealthy participant behavior.
      • Leverage clinical care team resources to coordinate drug management and/or condition management recommendations through the participant’s primary care provider.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, Psychology, Counseling or Health Coaching, or LPN or higher degree. Preferred 1‑3 years’ experience. In absence of a bachelor’s degree, 4 or more years of experience required. CHES preferred.

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:

  • Fluent in Spanish is a plus.
  • Basic Listening Sequence skills (Attending and Empathy, Observation, Questions, Encouraging/Paraphrasing/Summarizing, Reflecting Feelings)
  • Leverage the experience of other team members to quickly identify gaps, risks, or opportunities when faced with challenging situations
  • Basic understanding of technology platforms, information security principles, and data reporting tools is required.
  • Proficient knowledge of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Working Conditions:

  • Most consultations/coaching hours are Monday‑Friday 6:00 am – 4:00 pm.
  • Most screening hours are Monday‑Friday 5:30 am – 10:30 am, but alternate shifts may be required.
  • Travel with overnight stays may be required, depending on the candidate’s location.
