OverviewThe Resident Assistant (RA) participates in the care of Atherton Place Personal Care Residents from a Resident Centered Approach. The RA assists Personal Care Residents with activities of daily living according to State regulations; assures a protective and watchful oversight; remains aware of residents' needs, whereabouts, state of health and daily functioning; and interacts with residents and families. Activities of daily living include, but are not limited to, medication assistance/administration, bathing, dressing, and grooming.
Willing to learn additional skills as needed.
- Medication Assistance/Administration per State regulations
- Storing medication and taking to resident at the prescribed times.
- Proper documentation of medication assistance.
- Interacting with doctors’ offices and pharmacies to ensure proper and safe medication assistance.
- Ability to maintain focus on medication assistance while dealing with outside distractions.
- Be aware and observe for any side effects of medications.
- Maintain watchful oversight of residents.
- Respond to and documentation of resident issues as they arise. (ie: falls, medical emergency, etc.)
- Observe and interact with residents on a daily basis.
- Interact with and keep families/sponsors informed of resident issues.
- Be aware of resident whereabouts.
- Interact with supportive agencies (ie: sitters, hospice, home health, etc.)
- Participate in the formation of resident care plans, evaluation of cognitive status and ability to self-administer medications.
- Assist residents with ADL’s as per resident need.
- Bathing, dressing, grooming, etc.
- Maintain an awareness of each resident’s normal appearance; intervene, as appropriate, if a resident’s state of health appears to be in jeopardy.
- Maintain apartment in sanitary and clutter-free condition.
- Assist with resident transfers (ie: chair to bed, wheelchair to commode, etc.)
- Assist with resident laundry.
- Assist in dining room to serve meals.
- Assist resident with any needs that may arise, i.e.: apartment cleanliness, thermostat, TV, light bulbs, toilets, phone calls, etc.
- Maintain State Readiness
- Ensure that required education is met each year
- Maintain resident files
- Required Minimum Education:
High School graduation or equivalent with CNA certification in the state of Georgia. Required - Required
Minimum Experience:
Minimum 2 years experience preferred in a similar setting with older adults. Experience with medication assistance/administration preferred - Required Minimum
Skills:
Good customer service and communication skills; reads and writes; able to relate well with teammates, healthcare professionals, residents, and families; basic computer skills with Windows-based environment for training and resident documentation; current skills in medication assistance/administration or willingness to learn. - Required Minimum License(s) And Certification(s):
Certified Nurse Assistant Required;
Basic Life Support Required; BLS - Instructor Required; BLS - Provisional Required
