Overview
The Real Time Crime Center Supervisor is responsible for planning, organizing, and serving as a supervisor for Criminal Intelligence Analysts, Public Safety Analysts, and other personnel assigned to the Cobb County Police Department Crime Analysis Unit (CAU) and Real Time Crime Center (RTCC). The incumbent is responsible for performing all duties of a Criminal Intelligence Analyst and Public Safety Analyst, in addition to overseeing the daily operations of these units.
This position will work approximately hrs. and will be eligible for shift differential pay and overtime.
- Oversees daily operations of the RTCC and CAU, including employee management, workflow coordination, and troubleshooting minor equipment issues.
- Responds to relevant open records requests at the unit level.
- Communicates significant incidents to the chain of command.
- Prepares, creates, and manages statistical reports and projects as assigned.
- Performs all essential functions and responsibilities of a Public Safety Analyst, Criminal Intelligence Analyst.
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail in locating addresses, and associated call-related data during a call for service.
- Listens to public safety radio transmissions, monitoring calls for service on Computer Aided Dispatch screens, and viewing selected public-private video assets.
- Observes, detects, and appropriately reports elements of crimes observed through video streams to dispatchers and responding officers.
- Testifies in court and providing witness testimony in police-related incidents.
- Conducts open-source and restricted queries using specialized criminal justice intelligence-based databases.
- Operates desktop, laptop, network, and secure system computers, public safety radios, telephones, and other assigned equipment.
- Performs key functions requiring technical expertise and attention to detail, such as data entry, query, and retrieval of investigative data, and the location of source documents and reports from various computer networks.
- Serves as a liaison with other RTCCs/CAUs and assisting law enforcement agencies requiring real-time or investigative information.
- Attends and develops training and stays informed about research methodology, police issues, intelligence analysis, and current law enforcement technology, while making appropriate recommendations for improvements in crime analysis/intelligence analysis practices.
- Ensures the collection and analysis of crime reports data, arrest data, field interview card data, intelligence reports, and other crime-related data to forecast crime patterns.
- Performs audits and ensuring compliance with public safety technologies in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED required. A Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Criminal Justice, Communications, Public Administration, Intelligence, or a related field is preferred.
- Three years of progressively responsible and knowledgeable work experience (sworn or non-sworn) in law enforcement or public administration. Preferable experience in a Criminal Intelligence Analysis unit and/or Real Time Crime Center operations.
- Must obtain and maintain a Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) certification. Training is provided on duty, and certification testing is completed within the first six months of hire.
- Preferred certification as a Criminal Intelligence Analyst or equivalent, or the ability to obtain it within two years.
- Must have a valid driver s license.
Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, odor, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as firearms, violence, disease, or rude/irate customers.
