Description

Thompson Software Solutions is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer who is ready to work with a talented team to provide innovative solutions for tomorrow’s problems. This position requires a software engineer to apply a wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the software field to develop, integrate, and test software products. The successful candidate will be a member of a high-performing multi-site team and must be self-motivated with a strong work ethic, time-management, and interpersonal skills.

You will work independently at times on projects and, at other times, will be in a collaborative team environment with other software engineers and with other program development and deployment teams.

Selected applicants will be subjected to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and must maintain eligibility for continued access to classified information throughout employment as required by the job.

Basic Requirements
  • Bachelors degree in systems engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field
  • 10+ years of systems engineering experience in avionics or safety-critical embedded systems
  • Experience applying Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles
  • Experience developing system architecture models using SysML (e.g., Cameo, Rhapsody, or similar tools)
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing requirements including traceability and verification
  • Experience authoring system/subsystem design documentation that drives software implementation
  • Experience developing and executing system-level and HIL test procedures
  • Strong understanding of requirements verification and validation processes
  • Experience troubleshooting integrated HW/SW systems in a lab environment
  • Solid understanding of configuration management principles
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills
  • Ability to work onsite 100%
  • Ability to travel 25%
Preferred / Additional Skills
  • Experience using Agile methodologies
  • Experience designing and architecting avionics systems
  • Experience as a lead engineer
  • Proficient with Atlassian Tools (Confluence, JIRA, Bitbucket, etc.)
  • Experience in DO-178C / DO-254 or other safety-critical development environments
  • Experience supporting certification efforts
  • Experience with MIL-ACAS, CAPS/SKE systems
