Overview
Electrical Project Engineer I (mid-level) to support the North American Amazon RMR project team. Vanderlande’s Amazon RMR team is responsible for the design, specification, and commissioning of Amazon RMR projects throughout North America. You will ensure the design meets customer requirements, is coordinated with other trades, can be installed efficiently, and maintain excellent communication with the site team. Success involves balancing technical requirements with collaboration across customer, vendors, and internal teams to balance priorities, improve processes, and achieve goals.
The candidate should have strong technical skills, creativity, and interpersonal abilities.
- Develop code-compliant electrical systems that meet customer specifications
- Translate sales drawings and specifications into a fully functional mechanical system description usable for a Request for Proposal (RfP) and by Project Procurement
- Optimize system functionality from as-sold to a working electrical design within the budget in consultation with other disciplines (Mechanical, Controls, Supply Chain, Installation, etc.)
- Perform system and component-level calculations to size components and equipment (conductor sizing, voltage drop, motor starters, overcurrent and short circuit protection, control panels, control networks, etc.)
- Engineer project specials for non-standard design applications
- Apply safety regulations
- Specify electrical equipment for the complete electrical system that operates and controls Vanderlande-manufactured and third-party items
- Use software tools (AutoCAD Electrical, Word, Excel, etc.) to develop electrical designs such as wiring diagrams, termination lists, Bills of Materials, etc.
- Document engineering decisions through design plans, installation files, and engineering instructions for site supervisors and installation subcontractors
- Travel to site as needed to conduct site surveys
- Support installation and commissioning on site and from the Marietta, GA office
- Project document control using a rights-based database system
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
- Minimum of 5 years of related work experience
- Or Associate EE/ET with 8 years related experience
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically up to 33% with occasional international opportunities
- Ability to think conceptually (overall system) and translate into a detailed system design
- Ability to work in an entrepreneurial organization where cooperation is natural
- Strong communicator, able to effectively understand and set expectations for deliverables
- Able to handle time-sensitive situations and set priorities while maintaining attention to detail

- Advanced knowledge/experience with NFPA 70
- Experience designing UL rated control cabinets, low voltage power distribution, programming PLCs
- Advanced knowledge/experience with OSHA 29 CFR 1910
- Advanced knowledge/experience with NFPA 70E
- Advanced knowledge/experience with NFPA 79
- Advanced knowledge/experience with UL 508A
- Basic knowledge/experience with ISO 13849-1
