What You Will Be Doing
- Will be responsible for the design, development and implementation of tools, dies, gauges, jigs, fixtures, industrial machinery, prototype models and machine attachments required for production or experimental use, considering such factors as accessibility, economy, mobility, and performance requirements.
- Comprehensive understanding and wide application of engineering and technical principles, theories and concepts will be expected.
- Determines, provides and develops technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems unique to each program assigned, with minimum direction or supervision.
- Will help coordinate and support tooling activities across a wide range of functional organizations including Airframe Design, Structural Analysis, Materials and Processes, Planning, Procurement/Suppliers, Manufacturing, Production, Quality Assurance, Testing and Tool Fabrication.
- Identify root causes of tooling issues and implement corrective actions.
- Develop tooling solutions using CATIA V5, VERISURF, and other engineering analysis tools.
- Support supplier and feeder plant tooling operations, ensuring compliance with design standards and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T).
- Monitor, review, and disposition supplier requests submitted through SPAR, SATR, and REAs for both domestic and international suppliers.
- Provide on-site support to suppliers as needed, including travel to supplier locations to review tooling-related issues and implement solutions.
- Lead and participate in formal root cause analyses to enhance tooling reliability and performance.
- Act as a technical checker for tooling concepts and designs developed by team members and vendors.
- Develop new tooling techniques and methodologies to support future program needs and ensure continuous improvement in tooling processes.

Desired Skills- Previous hands on mechanical experience, computer aided design experience on any 3D drawing and analysis software package.
- Exposure to root cause analysis and continuous improvement concepts.
- Exposure to Vendor support and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
- Exposure to disposition tooling request from vendors on tooling issues and ability to research and validate request.
