Position: Animate Summer Academy Teacher 2026

Overview

LaAmistad Animate Summer Academy is looking for dedicated, enthusiastic, and experienced teachers with a dynamic talent for creating and nurturing a lifelong love of knowledge in children. Qualifications And

Minimum Requirements
  • Must have a BS/BA in Education or related field and/or teaching certificate (Ideal candidates will have a minimum of one year of teaching experience).
  • Commitment to mission, goals, and core values.
  • Must have own transportation and hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Must be available for training dates and all programming days.
  • Minimum of one year working with school-age youth, ages 5-11.
  • Good communication, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Confidence to run a classroom alone.
  • Ability to build relationships with volunteers, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds to create a dynamic environment for students to learn and thrive.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Direct instruction of 10-20 students during summer program (8am-12pm).
  • Create weekly academic lessons that guide instruction to build and strengthen student Math, ELA and Reading performance.
  • Supervise all in-person activities with students, including daily meals (lunch), and supervise student drop-off & pick-up (12pm-3pm).
  • Coach/train teaching assistants and volunteer camp counselors to provide small group support to LaAmistad students.
  • Attend training and planning sessions before the start of the program.
  • Execute student assessments and update performance data.
  • Differentiate instruction based on assessments to meet students  learning needs.
  • Teach and model positive life, study, and social skills.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the administrative team.
  • Requires the physical mobility to sit and walk for moderate periods of time and to occasionally carry or lift objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Must provide own Laptop.
  • Collaborate with and supervise other program staff (interns, program assistants, volunteers, etc.).
  • Genuine love and interest in working with children and/or education.
  • Ability to maintain an excellent work ethic, a high level of energy and exceptional enthusiasm each day.
  • Flexibility to meet changing needs and demands while balancing multiple tasks efficiently.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience working with kids or in a camp setting a plus.
  • Bilingual Spanish.
  • First Aid/CPR training.

Pay $25-$30/hour based on education, qualifications, and experience.

  • Pace Academy: 966 West Paces Ferry Road NW, Atlanta, GA 30327.
  • Camp Dates:
    June 1st - June 26th Monday-Friday, 8am-3pm.
  • Training Date:
    May 28, 2026 (9am-3pm).
  • Planning Date:
    May 29, 2026 (9am-12pm).
  • St. Pius: 2674 Johnson Rad NE, Atlanta GA 30345.
  • Camp Dates:
    June 8th - July 3rd:
    Monday-Friday, 8am-3pm.
  • Training Date:
    June 4th, 2026 (9am
    -3pm).
  • Planning Date:
    June 5th, 2026 (9am-12pm).

Both camps closed Friday, June 19th in observance of Juneteenth. Preference for location placement will be considered but not guaranteed. Must attend training and planning dates.
