  • JOB SUMMARY

    The Wee School weekday program combines the highest standards in early childhood education with a Christian environment of love and support. We believe teaching the "whole child". Our philosophy is that the spiritual, social, emotional, physical and intellectual well-being of each child should be encouraged and balanced. The teacher is responsible for assisting the Director in the ongoing activities of the program and to serve as a teacher in educating the children enrolled in the program.

    All teachers report to the Director.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • Prepare lesson plans requested by the Wee School Director.
    • Gather and prepare necessary materials for children’s activities to provide and maintain a Christian environment in which children may grow physically, emotionally, mentally, socially, and spiritually.
    • Give each child the attention needed to assure his best welfare. (This relates to discipline, eating, toileting, playing, learning, safety, etc.) Teachers are to remain in classrooms at all times.
    • Arrive 30 minutes before Wee School session begins; remain 10 minutes after each session to insure proper clean-up.
    • Keep room materials and equipment neat and orderly. Any unused supplies should be returned to the appropriate Resource Rooms.
    • Give entire attention to the children while on the playground. All teachers should supervise the entire time of the play period.
    • Assume duties in the area of eating and toileting. The areas used should be left clean. This also includes areas such as storage of paint supplies and sink used for cleaning of paint brushes.
    • Be familiar with fire escape route, emergency procedures and available first aid supplies.
    • Participate in training sessions made available to the Wee School teachers.
    • Attend all designated teacher meetings.
    • Be firm but kind with each child and treat each child consistently.
    • Become acquainted with and abide by all policies and duties of the Wee School Teachers Handbook.
    • It is understood that, as employees of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, teachers are considered as staff and should reflect this position in attitude and conversation as they deal with parents, children and co-workers.
    • Teachers are assigned to a specific age group; however, there may be times when flexibility is needed.
    • All teachers should be clean and neat in appearance and modest in dress.
