Collections Representative

Overview

The position works within the Meters and Services division and is responsible for the collection of funds due the city/BLW for outstanding utility accounts. Connects and disconnects utility service as required.

Rate of Pay: $17.88 - $20.39 Status: Open Until Filled

• The Collections Representative is responsible for field collections from customers with delinquent accounts, which includes the following:
• Organizes printed notices for efficiency in route completion.
• Notifies customers (residential and commercial) of the account status by delivering the notice to the service location and notifies the Meters & Services Manager of customer concerns or special problems.
• Disconnects service(s).
• Connects and disconnects utility service per customer’s request and records reading from meter.
• Organizes assigned service orders by area for efficient utilization of time.
• Completes necessary forms on tampered meters and submits to the Customer Service Manager.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or GED and a minimum of 3 years related customer service experience in an electric and/or water utility.
• Excellent verbal communications skills to include customer relations and ability to deal with the public in an effective and courteous manner. Bilingual English/Spanish applicants desirable.
• Knowledge of electric and water meter services.
• Must have a valid Georgia driver’s license and a satisfactory seven-year driving history to include no DUI’s in the last 5 years.
• Ability to learn the Marietta BLW service area.
• Ability to walk all types of terrain in all kinds of weather conditions for extended periods of time.
• Ability to follow the correct safety procedures when disconnecting meters.
• Knowledge and skill using basic mathematics.
• Knowledge and skill using basic mathematics and working with numeric data entry.
