Overview
This position will be assigned to the Cobb County Solicitor's Office. The purpose of this classification is to provide litigation support for assigned attorneys: assembles motions, briefs, exhibits, pleadings and related items according to proper formats as established by the courts; and schedules depositions.
A data entry skills test will be required for all applicants. The skills testing information and link will be sent via email after the closing date of this job announcement for applications received that successfully meet the qualifications for this position. The assessment will close on Thursday, February 5th, 2026, at 11:59 pm. Please note, failure to complete this assessment will result in elimination from this position.
Provides litigation support for assigned attorneys: assembles motions, briefs, exhibits, pleadings and related items according to proper formats as established by the courts; schedules depositions and special master hearings; prepares and maintains pleading index on ongoing litigation files; generates subpoenas and sends certified mail or arranges for hand delivery; and monitors court calendars and ensures adherence to critical dates for filings and discovery.
Responsibilities- Compose complex legal documents, including briefs, motions, revocations, accusations, contempts, affidavits, interpleaders, pre-trial orders, warranty deeds, quitclaim deeds, lis pendens, support petitions, pleadings, condemnations, nuisance abatements, lease agreements and bankruptcy pleadings.
- Serve as liaison and point of contact for employees, attorneys, officials and citizens for legal matters: receive, date stamp and disburse hand-delivered and special delivery documents; accept service of process on behalf of the assigned unit.
- Prepare and process a variety of legal and court documents and information; gather, transcribe, compose, types, review, and submit documentation to appropriate personnel and parties.
- Monitor, track and maintain documentation regarding cases, status of cases, hearings, amendments to court rules, case law, etc.; track court documents, filings, and scheduling; follow up on docket entries, opinions, appeals, criminal complaints, fugitive warrants, etc.; compile statistics and prepare related reports.
- Distribute documentation between department/staff members and internal/external individuals/agencies; distribute/deliver incoming faxes, mail, or other documentation to appropriate personnel; sort, organize, open, and/or distribute incoming mail; process outgoing mail; copy and distribute forms, reports, correspondence, schedules, agendas, or other documentation.
- Maintain file systems; prepare files, organize documentation, and file documents; retrieve/replace files; enter records into computer; update and verify accuracy of information; prepare files for hearings and trials; ensure all documentation and records are included in files; close files as needed.
- Maintain and prepare calendars; schedule and confirm appointments, meetings, interviews, conferences, court trials, hearings, substitutions, and related activities; create, distribute and update calendar; notify parties of changes.
- Greet visitors and the general public; provide information/assistance regarding department services, procedures, documentation, or other issues; respond to questions or complaints; initiate problem resolution.
- Answer incoming telephone calls; provide assistance and information; refer callers to other staff; forward calls to appropriate departments; take messages.
- Relieve assigned staff of routine administrative tasks; screen communications; record dictation; type, compose, edit, and proofread correspondence; record and/or transcribe information; keep staff informed of significant matters.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED; supplemented by three years of experience providing complex administrative support.

Experience:
Direct work in a court setting, particularly with criminal cases.
Education:
An Associate's degree in Secretarial Science or Office Administration.
