The Vale of Glamorgan is inviting applications for an exciting role within its Flying Start Programme. Flying Start is a Welsh Government-funded early intervention and prevention programme, available in targeted areas to support families and give children aged 0–3 the best possible start in life.
The Programme Provides- Health visiting
- Parenting support
- Speech, language and communication development
- Funded part-time childcare
- Work directly with parents through one-to-one sessions, group activities, and community engagement.
- Support families to overcome challenges and access the help they need.
- Contribute to a collaborative, multi-agency approach to early intervention.
- Professionally manage a caseload consistent with responsibilities and grade, including one-to-one work and facilitation of a Health and Wellbeing group for parents.
- Supervise a small number of practitioners within the Parent Support Team.
- Work in partnership with professionals and agencies across Flying Start, Families First, Mental Health, statutory sector, third sector and relevant independent agencies.
- Provide targeted support to parents within the Flying Start programme.
- Organise and deliver groups, workshops, and activities that promote Health and Wellbeing.
- Work collaboratively with families, professionals, and partner agencies to ensure holistic support.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to service planning and evaluation.
- Promote inclusion and equality in all aspects of service delivery.
- A recognised Social Work Qualification.
- 2 years post qualified social work within a mental health field.
- Experience of supervising others.
- Experience of multi-agency/ partnership working.
- Knowledge of key Mental Health Legislation in Wales (e.g. Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014).
- Skilled in engaging and motivating individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledgeable about child development, safeguarding, and family support.
- Able to work flexibly, independently, and as part of a team.
- Committed to making a positive impact in the community.
Pay Details: Grade 9 (SCP 31–35) £41,771 – £46,142
Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 37 hours per week – Monday to Friday
Main Place of Work: Located in Barry but covering the Vale of Glamorgan
Temporary Reason: Welsh Government funding until 31.3.2028
