Program Description

The CYC in Marblehead, Massachusetts (Website:(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).) is hiring a Junior Sailing Program Director to lead and develop our Junior Sailing Program, supported by a staff of six Sailing Instructors and three Junior Instructors-In-Training. We seek someone who cares as deeply as we do about fostering a life-long love of sailing in each participant and staff—with the confidence, curiosity and abilities to match.

In 2025, more than 130 sailors aged seven to fourteen sailed with us. Classes take place Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm across four two-week-long sessions. Our sailors learn in a fleet of club-owned Optimists, Prams and Sonar keelboats, with staff teaching from 15  RIBs and 17  Boston Whalers. While our program supports some competitive sailing at the local level, the majority of our focus is on beginner and intermediate levels.

  • Attend monthly virtual Sailing Committee meetings
  • Oversee the initial set up of the Junior Sailing Program classroom, fleet and related equipment with program staff, inspecting all of the above for potential safety issues and breakdowns, and leading the required repairs with the assistance of Waterfront Staff before the program begins
