Safe Harbor Marinas seeks a dedicated and experienced marina professional to fill the Dockmaster position and oversee the daily dockage, storage, and fueling operations of the marina. This role requires strong organization and leadership skills, excellent communication and customer service skills, and a thorough understanding of marina operations.
Dockmaster Responsibilities- Oversee contract/reservation process and manage berthing, mooring, storage, and servicing of boats to maximize marina occupancy.
- Oversee marina fuel dock operations.
- Direct, move, assist, and coordinate with guests/members to ensure secure mooring of vessels to/from docks.
- Maintain accurate records and reporting of slip, storage, and fueling activity.
- Manage daily operation of marina POS, including opening/closing, reporting, and ensuring accuracy of daily deposits.
- Conduct daily inspection and maintenance to provide a clean and safe facility.
- Provide highest level of service to all members and guests, expediting any and all vessel requests.
- Manage, train, and supervise dock and fueling staff while leading by example.
- Safely operate marina‑owned marine and land vehicles.
- Multitask while remaining professional in all situations.
- Act as first line of customer service for incoming boats.
- Ensure safe fueling practices are met.
- Manage renting of slips and reservations to ensure accuracy and occupancy optimization.
- Ensure members and guests observe all marina rules and regulations.
- Work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Perform other duties assigned by the General Manager.
- Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required training.
- Wear proper personal protective equipment, which may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets, and/or hard hats, as required for the task or work area.
- Report all accidents, injuries, spills, and near misses immediately.
Physical Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 2 years of marina experience required.
- Ability to work safely around the water.
- Must be able to swim.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Basic boat handling skills preferred.
- Knowledge of dock construction and repair preferred.
- Knowledge of basic power tools preferred.
