Job SummaryProvides empathetic pharmacy consulting services to patients regarding the effective use of medications and drug interaction awareness. Offers preventive and clinical healthcare services, including immunizations, diagnostic testing, and patient outcome services. Ensures prescribed medications are compounded, reviewed, dispensed, and verified accurately according to regulatory guidelines and company policies and procedures. Manages efficient pharmacy workflow, improves financials, manages inventory, enhances patient experience, and oversees staff performance and engagement.
Job Responsibilities- Patient Experience
- Engage patients by greeting and offering assistance with products and services; resolve patient issues promptly.
- Model and share customer service best practices with all team members.
- Proactively anticipate needs and promote healthcare services such as medication management and immunizations.
- Participate in community events as requested by Store Manager, Healthcare Supervisor, or District Manager.
- Operations
- Counsel patients on medication use, side effects, interactions, and generics.
- Perform pharmacist tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management.
- Ensure pharmacy operations comply with regulations, policies, and standards.
- Oversee staff scheduling, role assignment, and workflow efficiency.
- Apply Good Faith Dispensing policies in drug handling.
- Develop new strategic business opportunities with Store Manager.
- Maintain IT knowledge of pharmacy systems and support staff and patients.
- Process insurance claims accurately and resolve issues.
- Follow up with medical providers on prescription details.
- Perform clinical and wellness services such as immunizations and disease‑state management.
- Manage pharmacy maintenance, cleaning, and equipment upgrades.
- Prepare and submit required records and reports per state and federal laws.

- Collaborate on staff hiring, discipline, termination, and compliance.
- Set expectations and goals, promote teamwork, and recognize achievements.
- Identify high‑potential team members and support career progression.
- Address employee relations concerns and maintain morale.
- Training & Personal Development
- Maintain required licensure, credentialing, and certification.
- Continuously update knowledge via journals, publications, and communications.
- Complete required education credits and training modules.
- Seek professional development through feedback and mentorship.
- Communications
- Support Store Manager by communicating corporate health and wellness information to staff.
- Business Performance Management
- Analyze performance data in finance, customer service, and inventory.
- Manage asset protection and oversee inventory management.
- Identify performance trends and improvement opportunities.
- Business Planning
- Develop and maintain relationships with local medical community.
- Promote pharmacy business and expand growth opportunities.
- Support Store Manager in expanding health and wellness awareness in the community.
- BS in Pharmacy or Pharm D from an accredited institution.
- Current pharmacist licensure in the states within the district.
- Certified immunizer or willingness to become one within 90 days of hire.
- At least one year of pharmacy experience covering dispensing, record‑keeping, compliance, operations, technology, and insurance billing.
- Strong working knowledge of state and federal controlled substance laws.
- Average leadership behavior rating of at least 3.0 in the last performance review and no written disciplinary actions in the last 12 months (internal candidates only).
- Supervisory experience planning, organizing, and directing pharmacy staff.
- At least six months pharmacy experience with Walgreens.
- Average leadership behavior rating of 3.7 or above in the last performance review (internal candidates only).
