The Town of Marana is seeking a Equipment Operator II to work in the Public Works Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, efficient operation and care of moderately complex heavy construction equipment. When not operating equipment, the expectation will be to take the initiative in assisting in the manual and technical aspects of the construction, maintenance, and repair activities.
You may be subject to emergency call-out. This is a full-time position and an exciting opportunity for someone interested in having a direct impact on the Town's infrastructure.

6:00 – 4:30, 4 days a week, with mandatory rotating on-call.

Expected Hiring Range: $22.30/hour – $27.32/hour
Salary Range: $22.30/hour - $32.34/hour
Placement within the expected hiring range is dependent on direct experience, internal equity and/or budget.
- Leads assigned staff; provides training to other team members; provides service to internal and external customers.
- Performs routine skilled maintenance tasks and dirt work repairs; operates a variety of trucks, hand and power tools, and other equipment in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures; inspects, cleans, and performs routine maintenance on trucks and equipment.
- Reads and follows specifications and coordinates with other trades to meet town requirements; possesses advanced knowledge of equipment operation, maintenance, safety protocols, and installation of temporary steel plates.
- Utilizes asset management software to track and manage work orders, work workflow, materials, and supplies.
- Call, clear and document Blue Stake.
- High school diploma or equivalency.
- Over five years' experience in road maintenance, construction, or a related field operating heavy equipment.
- Valid Arizona Driver License.
- Must possess an Arizona (Class
A) Commercial Driver License (CDL) w/Tanker Endorsement.- Subject to random testing per DOT (FMSCA) requirements.
- Must complete a pre-employment physical including an audiogram and pass a 50-pound lift test.
- Must complete both the Town of Marana background check and a motor vehicle records check.
An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills & abilities to successfully perform essential functions may be considered.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Equipment transport - transport, haul and/or drive equipment.
- Vac Truck experience - storm drainage system cleaning.
- Surveying experience - shoot grade.
- Computer-based work-order experience.
