Marana Health is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to join the Wellness team at the Marana Main Health Center, located in the heart of Marana, AZ.

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) promotes and restores patients’ health and wellness mainly by supporting clinicians with incoming prescription refill requests per MH refill protocol and document review and completion. Assists support staff and works in tandem with clinic providers to ensure physical and psychological support of all patients across the age continuum at the level for which the LPN has been trained and licensed.

May assist with phone and on-site triage process and act as a liaison between physicians, nurses, medical assistants, and patients. Manages and documents patient phone calls and patient care pertaining to medical conditions and questions according to established clinical and organizational policies and standards of care.

Marana Health is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center (FQHC), with 11 sites in Tucson and Pima County.

The following qualifications are required:

  • Current, unencumbered Arizona state license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • Completion of state-approved training in Practical Nursing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (may be completed with MH upon hire)
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card through Arizona Department of Public Safety (or ability to obtain upon hire)

The following qualifications are preferred:

  • IV Certification
  • Pediatric experience

Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered if applicable and must be directly related to the functions and body of knowledge required to successfully perform the job.

This position has the following supervisory responsibility:

  • No Supervision: Does not direct or supervise others.

The ideal candidate will also possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Must be organized with the ability to self-motivate and prioritize a variety of duties.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate and engage patients.
  • Demonstrates competencies and knowledge of all age groups including neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Applied knowledge of computer applications in a Windows based environment.
  • Applied skills in patient engagement in a primary care setting.
  • Knowledge of patient appointment scheduling system.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with providers and support staff to ensure efficient patient care and clinical operations.
  • Serves as Super-User to staff in EMR and software applications involved in patient care operations such as Athena One, and others as needed.
  • Participates in Quality Improvement efforts by collaborating with clinical staff in the generation of ideas to improve patient care and the functioning of clinical operations.
  • Monitors assigned provider desktops within the EMR and promptly completes assigned tasks per lab standing orders and medication refill protocols.
  • Reviews reports, consultations, communication documents, telephone messages and refill requests for providers and follows standing orders for prompt resolution of requests and patient notifications. Documents all patient correspondence accurately.
  • Assists with hands-on patient care at any site to include wound care, IV starts and gathering of assessments to assist with triage.
  • Protects patients and employees by complying with infection control policies and protocols, following medication administration, storage procedures and controlled substance regulations.
  • Maintains Clinic Standards of Care by adhering to the Arizona State Nurse Practice Act and those of other governing agencies.
  • Adheres to expectations of required/mandatory in-services, certifications and licensures.
