Marana Health is seeking a Day Shift Custodian to join the Facilities team at the Marana Main Health Center, located in the heart of Marana, AZ.

The Day Shift Custodian helps ensure our healthcare facilities remain clean, organized, and welcoming during business hours. The custodian performs a variety of routine and urgent cleaning and maintenance tasks, with a focus on infection prevention and patient safety. This position responds promptly to immediate cleaning needs, and supports a safe and comfortable environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Marana Health is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center (FQHC), with 11 sites in Tucson and Pima County.

The following qualifications are required:

  • Previous experience in cleaning or maintenance
  • High school Diploma, GED, or Trade School equivalent
  • Strong attention to detail, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • Knowledge of how to safely work with cleaning chemicals and appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, to perform the essential functions of the position
  • Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card through the Arizona Department of Public Safety (must be verified as “valid” prior to start date)

The following qualifications are preferred:

  • 3 years’ related experience in cleaning or maintenance
  • Experience in a healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of infection control practices and healthcare cleaning standards
  • OSHA 10 certification
  • Familiarity of OSHA’s Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and Hazard Communication Program

Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered if applicable and must be directly related to the functions and body of knowledge required to successfully perform the job.

The ideal candidate will also possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Proactive, adaptable, and customer-service oriented
  • Strong understanding of cleaning processes, including floor maintenance and use of specialized equipment and cleaning agents
  • Strong understanding of infectious prevention practices and the ability to follow healthcare cleaning protocols to avoid cross-contamination
  • Effective communication skills to relay facility needs or disruptions to supervisors and coordinate with clinical staff
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends if needed
  • The ability to manage supply inventory and restock cleaning materials in assigned areas.
  • Readiness to respond to urgent cleaning or support requests in real time
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members to ensure consistent service quality

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work on-site during normal business hours (typically 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM) and maintain a continuous presence in high-traffic and public facing areas
  • Perform cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming throughout the facility. Maintain restrooms by sanitizing surfaces, refilling supplies, and removing trash. Clean and disinfect medical beds, equipment, entry doors, and windows as needed throughout the day
  • Respond promptly to emergency cleaning needs, including spills, patient accidents, and unscheduled cleaning requests
  • Pick up trash throughout the parking lot and empty outside trash receptacles
  • Empty trash bins and manage waste disposal in compliance with healthcare standards
  • Perform minor facility maintenance tasks as assigned
  • Report maintenance needs, safety hazards, and repair requirments promptly to your supervisor
  • Restock supplies in bathrooms, patient rooms, and common areas
  • Maintain cleaning supply inventory and request replacements when needed
  • Follow all health and safety policies and use cleaning supplies and equipment in compliance with protocols
