Are you interested in starting a new career or are you an experienced emergency dispatcher looking to continue your career with a highly respected agency? The Town of Marana is seeking an entry-level or experienced Dispatcher to join a great team and dispatch emergency and non-emergency police personnel in response to calls for service.
Schedule:
varying schedules including graveyard shifts, weekends and holidays.
- Receives calls for service by acting as liaison between public and police; determines emergency response necessity; provides information to the public; and accesses and utilizes multiple computer systems, databases, reference books and maps.
- Receives and initiates radio communication with field personnel; monitors radio frequencies; maintains unit status and location; and retrieves and relays emergency information.
- Maintains state and federal required documentation; performs communication tasks by distributing information to appropriate agencies; responds to requests; and maintains information.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED equivalency plus six months of additional education or training
- Over six months of customer service experience
- Must pass an extensive background investigation, polygraph and psychological evaluation
- Must pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug test
- Must obtain ACJIS (Arizona Criminal Justice Information System) Certification within 6 months of hire
- Must attach the Non-Sworn Supplemental Application as part of the submission. The supplemental application must be notarized. To be considered, applicants must complete the Town of Marana online application and the Non-Sworn Supplemental Application. Providing a resume is welcome but will not substitute for completing all required sections. Minimum qualifications will be evaluated based on information provided. Incomplete applications may be disqualified.

Review and Testing Process- Candidates will be asked to complete and notarize the Non-Sworn Supplemental Application during submission, which will be used during a potential background investigation.
- Candidates selected to move forward will be invited to an online/remote practical assessment in a public safety communications environment.
- Candidates selected to move forward will be invited to Oral Boards; finalists will undergo further background investigations and testing. Further details will be provided for those who move forward.
Based on positions available, the Police Department may place finalists on an eligibility list to fill future vacancies. These lists have no set expiration date. The Police Department can choose to exhaust the list at any time depending on department needs.
