Position: C27-113 ESS Inclusion Program Coordinator (2 positions)

POSITION SUMMARY

Plans, coordinates, and facilitates the delivery of assigned programming for the Marana Unified School District’s special education programs. This may include Program Inspire, Program ABLE, Adaptive Clusters, Behavior Clusters, and the Preschool Play and Learn (PAL) Program. Maintains regulatory compliance; provides special education advice and training to teachers, related service providers and support staff; conducts student observations and develops behavioral assessments including Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans;

compiles data and prepares a variety of program reports; communicates with parents regarding the program; provides assistance to the Director and Associate Director of Exceptional Student Services; and performs other related duties as assigned.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversees and coordinates the delivery of special education, inclusion, and early childhood services within the Marana Unified School District (MUSD).
  • Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates the performance of assigned personnel; ensures staff compliance with departmental policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversees daily schedules and staff assignments, including related service providers.
  • Prepares and administers departmental budgets; approves purchase orders; monitors and authorizes program expenditures.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with State and Federal regulations, including Arizona Department of Health Services preschool licensing requirements.
  • Conducts student observations and provides assistance to teaching personnel regarding program placement and interventions.
  • Collaborates with School Psychologists in developing Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA).
  • Supports teachers and school staff in developing and implementing behavior intervention plans.
  • Provides training and technical support to staff regarding Electronic IEP Program documentation, Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team processes, and compliance requirements.
  • Attends and participates in Individual Education Plan and Multi-Disciplinary Team (MET) meetings; addresses parent concerns and/or complex issues pertaining to student programs.
  • Conducts research and delivers training in relation to specific disabilities, new special education legislation, regulatory compliance, and/or District procedures.
  • Trains and develops support staff teams in behavior support, communication, and the accommodation of student needs.
  • Supports the administration of the District’s Extended School Year Program, including recruiting and training program staff and identifying program facilities.
  • Supports Child Find efforts for families.
  • Prepares and maintains a variety of program records, reports, and documentation, including preschool licensing records.
  • Attends various meetings and training sessions pertaining to special education and early childhood as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Required Knowledge of:

  • Principles, practices, regulations, and standards governing special education and early childhood services.
  • Arizona Department of Health Services preschool licensing standards and preschool special education standards.
  • Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans.
  • Individual Education Plans, Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team processes, and Electronic IEP programs.
  • Crisis prevention intervention procedures.
  • Budgetary and supervisory principles and practices. Program records, reports, and documentation requirements.

Required Skill in:

  • Supervising and evaluating the performance of professional and support staff.
  • Facilitating the delivery of District special education and preschool programs and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Providing special education support, early childhood advice, and training to teaching and related service personnel.
  • Developing Functional Behavioral Assessments and conducting clinical student observations.
  • Assisting with placement, interventions, and selection of special education and preschool curriculum.
  • Managing budgets, approving purchase orders, and authorizing program expenditures.
  • Attending IEP meetings and resolving complex program issues and/or parental concerns.
  • Compiling data and preparing and maintaining a variety of program records and reports.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
  • Master’s Degree in Special Education and/or Educational Leadership; AND three (3) years of experience teaching special education or preschool; AND three (3) years of experience coordinating special education programming;
  • OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
