Police Records Clerk

Expected Hiring Range

$17.87 - $21.89 – Placement within the expected hiring range is dependent on direct experience, internal equity, and/or budget. Salary Range: $17.87 – $25.91.

Normal Work Schedule

Four 10‑hour shifts during weekdays; 7:00 am – 5:00 pm

Responsibilities
  • Provides public services and administrative customer support; deals with sensitive and confidential information; file and records management; performs intake, data entry, quality control, and case management; orders supplies and distributes incoming/outgoing mail.
  • Processes, redacts, and disseminates police reports, records, and requests to internal departments and external agencies; receives background requests and provides clearance letters; maintains knowledge of Uniform Crime Reporting for accurate identification of crimes; trains officers on report writing methods.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalency plus six months of additional education or training.
  • Over one year of clerical experience in an administrative setting or in a closely related field.
  • Must pass an extensive background investigation including fingerprinting and a polygraph.
  • Must obtain ACJIS (Arizona Criminal Justice Information System) Certification within 6 months of hire.
  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills & abilities to successfully perform essential functions may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with confidential records.
  • Experience working in a records department.

Review & Selection Process
  • Candidates selected to move forward after application review may be invited to a phone interview and/or oral boards.
  • Candidates will be asked to complete and notarize the Non‑Sworn Supplemental Application if invited to interview which will be used during a potential background investigation. This will be completed and notarized directly after the interview.
  • Finalists will go through further interviews with supervisory staff and potential background investigations. Further details will be provided for those that move forward in the process.
