Overview

University of Minnesota Physicians seeks a surgically trained Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join the Vascular Surgery clinical practice at M Health Fairview St. John’s Hospital and M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital. This is a tremendous opportunity to practice independently while being part of a renowned vascular care team, which includes vascular surgeons, interventional radiologists, residents, fellows, nursing staff, and registered vascular technologists.

The service is seeking a motivated PA/NP who is driven to be a leader in the field, collaborative, and a team player who will cross-cover as needed at other M Health Fairview Vascular Surgery sites.

Responsibilities
  • Practice in a combined inpatient and outpatient clinical setting
  • First assist in surgery as needed
  • Daily inpatient ward rounds with resident and fellow teams, complete discharge summaries, and evaluate consultations
  • Optimize care plans, develop algorithms, and coordinate hospital discharge
  • Evaluate and treat vascular patients in the hospital in collaboration with a staff Vascular Surgeon
  • Evaluate and treat vascular patients in the clinic independently
  • Refer patients to appropriate vascular surgeons within the department and/or other specialists as needed
  • Extremity wound care including debridement, dressing, VAC placement
  • Educate patients and families regarding disease processes, interventions, and postoperative or post-procedure care
  • Actively participate in staff education and administrative activities
Practice Sites
  • St. John’s Hospital and M Health Fairview Vascular Clinic – Maplewood
  • Southdale Hospital – Edina
  • Travel to Woodbury, Wyoming, and Hudson outreach clinics to provide outpatient/clinic care is possible
Schedule
  • 0.8 FTE, daytime hours, weekdays (no nights or weekends, no call)
Candidate Requirements
  • Experience caring for vascular surgery or surgical patients for at least 3 years
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current MN PA/NP license and approval by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice or Board of Nursing for prescription writing privileges
  • Certification through NCCPA/ANCC
  • Meet credentialing and privileges threshold criteria

The full-time salary range is $130,866 – $161,954, commensurate with practice experience and may include incentive compensation or additional specialty-specific components. Salary prorated based on FTE.
