- Manage the care of patients ages 5‑18 years with psychiatric/mental health disorders.
- Perform psychosocial, physical, and behavioral assessments and provide individualized interventions.
- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and supervise nursing care within the area of assignment per Prairie Care policies.
- Provide continuous self‑assessment and collaborate with the team to ensure safe patient care.
- Use therapeutic approaches to reduce restraint and seclusion whenever possible.
- Facilitate nursing groups with patients during scheduled shift times.
- Conduct nursing assessments upon admission and plan admission/discharge within the partial hospital program.
- Track and communicate pertinent medical and psychiatric information in the EHR.
- Document patient assessment findings, responses to interventions, and progress toward problem resolution.
- Administer medications accurately, including verifying allergies, monitoring side effects, and completing refills and patient education.
- Perform interventions ordered by physicians, such as lab draws, EKG, UDS, Genesight, and HCG testing, and document results.
- Maintain safe infection control practices and educate patients on hygiene.
- Provide non‑judgmental, culturally sensitive care and preserve patient confidentiality and autonomy.
- Maintain current competency in child/adolescent psychiatric/mental health nursing, safe use of restraints and seclusion, and de‑escalation techniques.
Mon – Fri 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Qualifications- Graduate of an accredited nursing school with a nursing degree (BSN preferred).
- Current licensure as an RN with the Minnesota State Board of Nursing.
- Evidence of at least 1 year of psychiatric/mental health nursing experience within the past two years (preferred).
- Professional certifications such as RN ANCC Certification in Mental Health Nursing, Pediatric Nursing, or Holistic Health (preferred).
- Strong critical‑thinking, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a positive teamwork attitude.
- Ability to intervene in pre‑crisis or crisis situations using de‑escalation, limit setting, and least restrictive interventions.
- Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office and EHR usage.
- Knowledge of Joint Commission standards for restraint/seclusion and related documentation.
- Experience with quality improvement and thorough documentation.
The compensation range is $38‑$51 per hour, depending on education and experience. Additional benefits include:
