The Float Pool RN will take full care assignments and float to a variety of units including Cardiac Telemetry, Med/Surg, Orthopedics, Oncology, and more. This department is a specialty group that supports patient care throughout the hospital. You will have the opportunity for diverse patient population experiences on every shift.

This position is eligible for an additional $2/hour augmentation.

Schedule: This position will be 0.75 FTE (60 hours every two weeks). The shift is 12 hours on the day shift with a variable schedule, every third weekend rotation, and a holiday rotation.

About Our Float Pool Department n’s Hospital
  • Our team is prepared to work in a variety of clinical environments, where every day is different and exciting.
  • You will primarily be floating into our Cardiac Tele unit, caring for a variety of cardiac patients, including those recovering from cardiac procedures (e.g., post open-heart transplant, coronary bypass, stent placements).
  • You will also float to General Med/Surg, Orthopedics, and Oncology.
  • Orientation is based in the Medical Surgical units. You will float to each unit with a preceptor; overall orientation time and unit-specific orientation time depend on experience.
  • Option to train to specialty areas such as ER, ICU, and MCC after 6 months.
  • The position includes a variety of duties including tele monitoring, IV therapies, care for postoperative/medical surgical patients, accessing port-a-caths, PICCs, and feeding tubes.
  • Opportunity to obtain various certifications including Med/Surg, Ortho, and Chemo.
  • We are looking for someone who excels in a fast-paced environment, is flexible, eager to learn, and dedicated to placing the patient first.

The RN serves as a key leader of the interdependent team and coordinates care to achieve patient and unit outcomes. This includes comprehensive assessment, identifying outcomes, establishing and monitoring the plan of care, and modifying the plan of care as needed.

  • Demonstrates dedication to the Professional Partnership Model and the Health East nursing vision and strategy.
  • Applies the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) to coordinate outcome-focused patient care, incorporating nursing theory and practice standards.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, families, physicians, the care team, and other disciplines regarding the plan of care.
  • Assesses and documents learning needs of the patient and family; develops an individualized education plan.
  • Participates in improvements at the point of care to achieve clinical quality, patient experience, nursing engagement, and efficiency.
  • Aligns with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, board of nursing requirements, patient safety, infection control, and other standards, policies, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Coordinates the interdependent team while promoting collaboration.
  • Participates in department goals (safety, cost, quality, patient experience, employee engagement).
  • Maintains knowledge of, and aligns with, relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards.
  • Participates in ongoing improvements.

  • Degree in Nursing
  • RN License

The posted compensation range corresponds to the minimum and maximum pay rates outlined in your union agreement for the respective job classifications at the time of posting. Individual pay within this range may be influenced by factors including FTE, skills, knowledge, education, and qualifying experience.
