Senior Product Development Engineer

Senior Product Development Engineer – Consumer Healthcare (CHC) Business, Consumer Business Group.

3M is seeking a Senior Product Development Engineer to contribute to product development of brands such as Nexcare™, Ace™, and Futuro™ for Consumer First Aid, Muscle Joint & Wellness, and Skin Care & Other categories.

• Develop new product concepts based on customer insights, competitive analysis and 3M’s sustainability commitment.
• Create product prototypes and conduct performance testing, including development of new test methods.
• Verify product performance and customer acceptance.
• Prepare final product documentation packages and assist with factory scale‑up plans.
• Support intellectual property strategy through invention submissions.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution.
• At least 2 years of laboratory experience in a private, public, government or military environment.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Biochemistry, Polymer/Plastics Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in a medical device business or similarly regulated field.
• Proficiency in test methods and data analysis/statistics.
• Excellent organizational, problem‑solving, communication, presentation and people skills.
• Self‑directed, internally motivated with proven leadership abilities.

• Onsite:
  Requires at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.
• Travel may include up to 10% domestic/international.
• Relocation assistance may be authorized.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship for an employment visa.

The expected compensation range for this position is $122,292 – $149,468, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible.
