Job Summary
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Part Time Certified Hand Therapist to join our team at Ridge Meadows Hospital located in Maple Ridge, B.C.
Ridge Meadows Hospital is the local community hospital for both Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge and has 172 acute care beds. As a community hospital, it provides primary and secondary acute care and specialty services including 24/7 emergency, ambulatory care, day surgery, general and internal medicine, rehabilitation, maternity care, general surgery, orthopedics, urology, critical care, pharmacy, medical imaging, and a medical laboratory for both inpatient and outpatient needs.

Responsibilities
- Conducts clinical and therapeutic assessments of the client's physical status, functional abilities, needs and goals regarding manual skills specific to hand therapy utilizing an evidence-based approach.
- Analyzes the client's therapeutic needs by applying Standardized Clinical Hand Evaluations to establish the therapeutic diagnosis and prognosis; plans short and long term treatment programs in collaboration with the client.
- Implements specific therapeutic treatment programs utilizing diverse intervention approaches and modalities; educates the client regarding self-management, health promotion and injury prevention related to hand therapy.
- Evaluates effectiveness of interventions, monitors client responses, and adapts treatment plans to achieve functional independence and improved outcomes.
- Participates in clinical program development and quality improvement activities related to hand therapy; contributes to standards, procedures, forms, guidelines and audit tools.
- Prepares and maintains client records with treatment status, progress and goals; provides evidence-based rationale for assessment findings and plans.
- Collaborates with physicians, other healthcare disciplines, families and the community regarding client progress and discharge planning.
- Models and demonstrates hand therapy techniques; supports staff to provide quality care based on evidence-based practice.
- Provides direction to designated staff regarding fabrication of splints/orthotics and maintains splint room supplies as needed; mentors students and designated staff.
- Attends meetings and client conferences to provide feedback to families and other healthcare members regarding rehabilitation options and progress.
- Ensures safety of work and equipment; reports malfunctions and coordinates maintenance; manages supplies and requests additional resources as required.
- Participates in ongoing professional development and, with management, creates a plan for growth and progress toward goals.
- Participates on committees related to hand therapy interventions as requested.
