Job Summary
A casual Cardiology Technologist (Diploma) is needed to join our team at Ridge Meadows Hospital, Maple Ridge, B.C. The role involves performing ECG testing, stress testing, Holter monitoring, and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring under general supervision. The position includes data entry, equipment maintenance, and staff training, with potential to assist in pacemaker interrogation under physician direction.
Responsibilities
- Perform Electro Cardiogram (ECG) testing, stress testing, Holter and event monitor testing, and ambulatory blood pressure (ABP) testing.
- Explain procedures and answer patient questions in preparation for testing.
- Scan and analyze test strips, select and assess portions, and summarize for interpretation by medical staff.
- Assist with pacemaker interrogation, monitoring, and documentation under supervision.
- Enter patient test information into Meditech to provide a comprehensive electronic health record.
- Maintain files and reports according to department procedures.
- Demonstrate ECG testing procedures and equipment operation to students and new staff.
- Provide orientation and training to ECG staff and other hospital staff as directed.
- Maintain equipment through cleaning, lubrication, and replacement; complete requisitions for repairs.
- Distribute patient reports to appropriate wards and departments.
- Assist with development, implementation, and updates of department policies.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Completion of a recognized Cardiology Technology Program at the Diploma level with two (2) years recent related experience, or equivalent education, training, and experience.
- Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists (CSCT) certification.
Skills and Abilities
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Ability to work effectively with others.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency in operating related equipment.
- Physical ability to perform job duties.
