Overview:

Our client is an international mining technology company with research and development operations in the Vancouver area. Due to continued growth, they require the immediate services of an experienced Electrical Engineer with power distribution system experience.

Successful candidates will help to develop and test equipment that will shape the mining industry for years to come. Our client is one of only a handful of companies pushing the limits of BEV mining technology, and their team in the Vancouver area plays a pivotal role in the research and development for our client’s next generation of equipment.

The team you would join is currently in the prototype stage of the development of our client’s next-generation electrical infrastructure to support BEVs in mining. They are a tight-knit team of engineers who strive to deliver the best products possible, and enjoy the process of taking something from a drawing on a whiteboard to a product in the customer’s hands. A day at work could mean you are designing complex systems, reading whitepapers to further your knowledge, or bringing your design to life in our client’s prototype facility.

Skills and Experience:

• Electrical Engineering Degree
• 3 or more years of experience in grid support, electricity power distribution system, EV charging systems, microgrids, and BESS.
• Design experiences with electrical panels, substations.
• Strong understanding of electrical grid infrastructure, renewable energy integration and related international regulations.
• Proficiency in simulation and modeling tools such as ETAP, PSCAD, MATLAB, Simulink, PSS/E, or similar.
• Experience with control systems, SCADA, and energy management systems.
• Knowledge of various electrical components, including circuit protection, power distribution modules, relays, sensors and various power electronics
• Experience creating detailed and deciphering wiring schematics and diagrams
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Ability to work quickly, diligently, and independently
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and project management skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with high capacity/high voltage batteries or battery electric vehicles
• Programming experience: C/C++, Python, Java, ladder logic, etc.
• 5 or more years of industry experience
• Experience with Creo, AutoCAD, Matlab and Simulink etc.
• Basic mechanical understanding
• Strong mathematical and problem-solving abilities
• Experience with basic PCB design and testing
• Onsite Commissioning experience (installing, testing, troubleshooting)

• Comfortable working and designing with high-voltage DC/AC
• Knowledge of power electronics such as inverters, motors, converters

Compensation:

$105,000-$130,000 base salary plus benefits.
