EQUIPMENT OPERATOR 3

POSITION OVERVIEW
The City of Maple Ridge is hiring for an Equipment Operator 3 in the Roads division of the Engineering Operations Department. The Equipment Operator 3 is responsible for the operation and minor servicing and maintenance of equipment such as power rollers (over 8 tons), asphalt paving machines, street sweepers, tractors with specified attachments, and related medium-sized maintenance and construction equipment

In This Role You Will:
Operate power rollers (over 8 tons) used in the construction and maintenance of roads and related services.
Operate asphalt paving machines in roadway construction and maintenance.
Operate large mechanical street sweeping machines for street cleaning operations.
Operate compact or mini excavators for various off-street civic projects.
Operate front-end loaders (1–3-yard capacity) to move materials within works yards and job sites.
Perform routine servicing and minor maintenance on assigned equipment.
Maintain accurate work records, logs, and related documentation.
Assist with minor supervisory duties incidental to production work and provide guidance to one or more employees as required.

DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of Grade 12, and considerable related experience in operating equipment used, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of the methods, practices, and rules of safe operation of maintenance and construction equipment.
Sound knowledge of the principles, practices, materials and supplies used in the provision of underground and other municipal services.
Sound knowledge of the methods and practices used in servicing and maintaining equipment operated.
Sound knowledge of the principles and practices of civic construction and operations.
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
Ability to plan work in order to operate the equipment efficiently and effectively.
Ability to update and maintain records related to the work.
Skill in the operation and servicing of medium-sized equipment.
Mechanical aptitude.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES AND REGISTRATIONS
Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia – Class 3 with Air Brake Endorsement.
