Substitute Teacher, Maple Heights City Schools () – Ohio Substitute Teacher Services (OSTS) offers substitute teachers the opportunity to work in a variety of school settings throughout Ohio. Substitute teachers play an important role in a student's education by filling in for absent teachers and ensuring continuity.
We are proud to support Maple Heights City Schools in the employment of substitute teachers. Whether you are a retired teacher, a new college graduate, or someone interested in becoming a substitute teacher for the first time, we encourage all candidates to apply. No previous teaching experience or current licensure is required; credentialing assistance is available.
Compensation and Classification- Pay Rate: $150.00 Per Day

:
Ensure continuity of education by following the absent teacher’s lesson plans. - Maintains a neat and orderly classroom
:
Create an organized and welcoming learning environment. - Ensures student supervision
:
Never leave students unattended to maintain safety. - Keeps students safe and engaged
:
Engage students in learning while maintaining a safe environment. - Monitors student progress
:
Observe progress and assist where needed. - Maintains existing classroom management and discipline procedures
:
Follow current discipline procedures. - Understands school policy and procedures
:
Know school policies to maintain order and safety. - Provides written feedback
:
Report daily activities and student behavior to the regular teacher. - Maintains accurate attendance records
:
Keep precise attendance information.
- Criminal record check
:
Clean record verified by FBI and BCI within 365 days of hire. - Bachelor’s Degree
:
Hold at least a Bachelor’s Degree in any field. - Professional references
:
Provide three professional references. - Teaching License
:
Either obtain an Ohio Department of Education Substitute Teacher License or possess a Teaching License. - Training
:
Complete Sub Skills Online training (if applicable after hire) and all mandatory professional development modules via Public School Works . - Effective communication
:
Communicate accurately in writing and orally. - Punctuality
:
Maintain an acceptable attendance record and be punctual. - Professional conduct
:
Adhere to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators.
- Enrollment in the State Teachers Retirement System (STRS):
Participate in the state retirement system. - No nights, weekends, or holidays
:
Work aligns with regular school hours for a balanced schedule. - Consistent but flexible scheduling

Choose when you are available to work. - Exposure to the education field

Gain experience and insights. - Networking and professional references

Build a network and garner references for future opportunities.
